National Sitting Volleyball Teams put on a show in Surrey

Men and women demonstrate Paralympic sport in two B.C. locations.

Tessa Popoff (above) practices with her teammates on the Canadian Women’s National Sitting Volleyball Team at the Guildford Recreation Centre in Surrey on March 29.

The men’s and women’s teams, which regularly practice in Alberta, are making rare stops in B.C. for demonstrations. On the Easter weekend (April 3-5), the Men’s National Sitting Volleyball Team will demonstrate the paralympic sport at the Richmond Olympic Oval. The events are presented by Volleyball BC, in partnership with Volleyball Canada, the City of Surrey, and the Richmond Olympic Oval.

Popoff, a right-arm amputee who grew up in Surrey, lives in Langley.
