The Nelson Paddling Club, formerly know as the Nelson Kayak and Canoe Club, is hosting an open house on June 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rowing Pavilion at Lakeside Park.

Do you think you can keep one of these fast boats or paddle boards upright? Coaches and equipment will be at the ready to get you started.

If paddling isn’t your thing, you can just indulge in delicious baked goods at the bake sale. There will also be an opportunity see athletes paddling the club’s sprint boats as they raise money in a paddle-a-thon. You can support the athletes by a donation towards club equipment.

You can still join the club in the water this summer, even if you aren’t able to make it to the open house.

The Nelson Paddling Club will be offering summer camps from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July through August where kids will be exposed to recreational and sprint paddling with an emphasis on fun and games on the water.

This season, the Nelson Paddling Club will also be offering adult programming throughout June to August. The four session Tuesday night Learn to Paddle Programme continues, and new this year is a Wednesday night drop in community paddle from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Each night there will be a focus on a different form of paddling such as recreational kayak and canoe, sprint paddling, kayak polo, stand up paddle boarding, and much more.
