The BC Soccer Provincial Championships kicked off today in Richmond (for boys) and Chilliwack (girls) and Nelson is well represented in both sides of the competition.
Early action on the boys side say the Nelson Selects U15 squad play to a 1-1 draw against the Terrace Kermodes to kick off the tournament.
The U18 Selects were in tough, but played a strong game, defeating the Richmond Athletics 2-1.
In Chilliwack, the Nelson Selects girls squads were in tough at every level.
The U13 squad had to battle the incredibly strong North Shore Pegasus team. The locals gave it a great effort, but fell 4-0.
The U14 Selects were also in action today, falling 2-0 to Vernon United. Vernon is a favourite to win this year and the local girls played hard, keeping the game scoreless at the half.
The U15 Selects played hard, but fell 4-2 to Langley.
Nelson’s U17 squad put up a great fight, but ended up losing 2-1 to the Aldergrove Ambush.
The provincial tournament continues all weekend.
