Nelson hockey players Dryden Hunt and Noah Quinn have each received awards from their leagues.
Hunt, who plays for the Springfield Thunderbirds in the American Hockey League, was named player of the week on Feb. 17.
The 24 year old had five points in two games, including a game winner in overtime, for the Thunderbirds. Hunt previously began the season in the NHL with the Florida Panthers, with whom he had four assists in 20 games.
Quinn, who plays for Trail’s Kootenay Ice in the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League, was named the under-18 AAA player of the month for January by BC Hockey.
Quinn had seven goals in six games last month while also setting a team record for points in a single game with seven. He has 20 goals and 20 assists in 36 games this season with the Ice.
BC Hockey also noted Quinn is a volunteer with a Special Olympics floor hockey program.
