Creston will play host to a men’s soccer tournament on Saturday at Alex Nilsson Field at the community complex.
The aptly named Creston Valley Energy hopes to gain experience and work toward a goal of creating a Kootenay soccer league, said organizer Renn Cook.
The first game will feature Crawford Bay against Nelson at 10:30 a.m. Creston will play at noon against Nelson and then again at 1:30 p.m. when it faces Crawford Bay.
Round robin results will determine the finalists, who will play a championship match at 3 p.m.
Games will feature 35-minute halves in order to accommodate players and fans.
The Energy consists primarily of recent high school grads, Cook said, but the team also has some players in their 30s.
