Newfie Golf tourney raises $2,000 for Houston curling club

This year's ninth annual Newfie Golf Tournament raised $2000 for the Houston curling club.

Seventy-eight golfers teed off Sept. 10 at the 9th annual Newfie Golf Tournament in Houston.

The sun shone beautifully on the course that day at Willow Grove Golf and Country Club.

Over the last seven years, the tournament has  raised $12,700 for the Houston Retirement Housing Society.

Last year, the tournament raised $2,500 for the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 249.

This year, organizers of the tournament were asked to help out the Houston Curling Club as they are going through some difficult times. The tournament raised $2000.

Organizers say the tournament would never be a success without the generous help and support of the “town” and sponsors.

They would like to thank everyone involved for their continuous support and contributions.

Next year, organizers say they will once again support the Houston Retirement Housing Society.
