NHL Players Assocation director Donald Fehr is expected in Kelowna early next week to meet with players to discuss the latest developments in the league’s collective bargaining negotiations.
The NHLPA union boss will oversee a session with players Monday and Tuesday at the Delta Grand Hotel.
Kelowna and area is home to no fewer than 30 National Hockey League players during the off-season, including Shea Weber, Dany Heatley, Jarome Iginla, Josh Gorges and Carey Price.
Following his visit here, Fehr will return to Toronto Aug. 22 to resume CBA talks with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.
At that time, the NHLPA and league will have just over three weeks to resolve their differences in an effort avoid a lockout of players on Sept. 15.
So far, the two sides have been unable to find much middle ground on core issues, including the salary structure for players.
