Next weekend, both Saturday and Sunday will be the Alberni Auto Works Men’s Club Championship. This year it will be medal play, with the first round on Saturday followed by round 2 on Sunday. That way the Championship will be over in one weekend instead of dragging it out over five or six weeks like previous years.
On Saturday it will be all tee times starting at 7 am. Please book your own time in your own group. On Sunday the Championship flight will tee off starting at 7:30. The net flights will be in a shotgun start at 8am. Please sign up in the Pro Shop, the cost is $20 per player. This should be a lot of fun with some great prizes up for grabs.
From the previous week:
Finally we got some warm weather for the Two Man Iron Man on Sunday.
By the time the round was over around 12:30 most players were totally exhausted from the heat.
We played the combo tees, 9 blue and 9 white tees. This made for an interesting round considering the tough pin placements. It didn’t seem to bother Preban Rasmussen and Colin Hamilton, who emerged the low gross winners. They were followed by the twosome of Cory Neilson and Jim Proteau. Rounding out the gross winners were the Acland boys, Steve and Craig. On the net side of things, first low net went to the team of Sam Parhar and Sean Banman, followed by Steve Pointon and Darren Van Dyk, Glen Trask and Al Wright. Jacques Giovetti and his partner. Fifth low net was won by Vic Carlton and Mel Trelvik, next was the team of Pat Mckay and Gary Korven, the final net prize went to Clark Crowe and Keith Gauther.
Closest to the pin winners were Darren Van Dyk on Number 2, Cory Nielsen collected $44 for his Charity closest to the pin on Number 4, Colin Hamilton on number 13 and Steve Pointon on number 17. The West Wind Pub long drive on number 1 was won by Kyle Luchinski.
There were two money pot winners, Cory Nielsen collected $110 for the only birdie on number 2 and Glen Trask pocketed $95 for his birdie on number 17.
