Nine medals for host school at Shawnigan Lake Regatta

Shawnigan Lake School collected nine medals at the 55th annual Shawnigan Lake Regatta on May 13-15.

Shawnigan Lake School collected nine medals at the 55th annual Shawnigan Lake Regatta on May 13-15.

The school had three gold medals, three silver and three bronze.

The golds came in the junior C women’s coxed quad, the junior B JV men’s four and the junior C women’s double. The silvers were in the junior B women’s eight, junior B women’s quad and the junior C men’s double. The bronzes were in the junior A women’s eight, junior A JV women’s four, and the  junior A women’s coxed four.

Local rivals Brentwood College School collected a total of 14 medals. Brentwood had golds in the junior A JV women’s eight, junior A JV women’s coxed four, junior A lightweight women’s coxed four, junior A lightweight men’s coxed four and junior A women’s coxed four. The school also attained silver in the junior A men’s coxed four, junior A women’s pair, junior A women’s eight and junior A men’s eight, and bronze in the junior A JV men’s coxed four, junior B men’s quad, junior B men’s coxed four, junior B men’s double, and junior B men’s eight.

The Maple Bay Rowing Club earned one medal, but made it gold as Taylor Brouwer and Makenzie English won the junior A JV women’s double.
