Nine Titans named to all-star team

Nine members of the White Rock-South Surrey Titans were named to the Vancouver Mainland Football League’s midget all-star team this month, including quarterback Matt Calderwood, who was also selected as the offensive player-of-the-year.

In addition to Calderwood at quarterback, other Titan all-stars included running back Steven Bouchard, wide receiver Nathan Leader, guard David Saringer, defensive tackle Mike Bouchard, linebacker Tanner Figueroa, defensive backs Riley Cantner and Andrew Darcovich and defensive lineman Jacob Snow.

The Titans finished second in the VMFL last season with an 8-2 record, but were bounced in the first round of playoffs after a loss to the Mission Niners.

In other WRSS Titans news, the organization’s annual general meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2 at the South Surrey Recreation Centre, 14601 20 Ave. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
