The Nitehawks won the KIJHL title Friday at home in Fruitvale, blanking the Kamloops Storm 6-0 to win the best-of-seven series 4-2.

Vernon Vipers prospect Dallas Calvin had two goals in the clincher while ex-Viper Ryan Edwards chipped in three assists.

Edwards had four goals in Kamloops Thursday, including a natural hat trick in the second period, and Calvin added a deuce as the ‘Hawks whipped the Storm 8-3 in Game 5.

Beaver Valley will now travel 67 kilometres along Highways 3 and 6 to Nelson for the provincial Junior B Cyclone Taylor Cup championship tournament starting Wednesday.

They will face the host Nelson Leafs of the KIJHL, the Victoria Cougars of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League and the Aldergrove Kodiaks of the Pacific Junior Hockey League.

The winner in Nelson advances to Abbotsford for the Western Canadian Keystone Cup April 17-20, hosted by the PJHL’s Abbotsford Pilots.
