North Okanagan Minor Hockey is introducing an introduction to hockey program.
Initiation One is an introduction to hockey with the focus on fun while developing skating and hockey skills in a structured format.
It provides a positive beginning to the sport in a cost-friendly environment.
The Initiation One program consists of a single one-hour ice time per week on Monday nights from 5 to 6 p.m. in Enderby.
Full hockey equipment is required: CSA approved helmet and mask, neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, cup, shin guards, skates and stick.
The cost for this program is $90 and is available for initiation aged players (born in 2008 and 2009) who are new to hockey and reside in the North Okanagan boundaries as designated by the Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association.
The hockey season runs from Oct. 14 to Feb.15.
The Initiation One program is slightly different than North Okanagan’s regular Initiation Program.
The regular Initiation Program runs practices two or three times a week and will participate in games after the Christmas break.
Players that register in the Initiation One program may have an opportunity to join the regular Initiation Program anytime during the season prior to Dec. 20 for an additional cost of $80.
