North Okanagan Knights return to winning form

North Okanagan Knights blank Osoyoos Coyotes 3-0 in KIJHL play Friday at Nor-Val Sports Centre.

The North Okanagan Knights earned back-to-back Kootenay International Junior Hockey League wins for the first time in more than a month with a 3-0 shutout of the Osoyoos Coyotes Friday night at Nor-Val Centre.

Zach Dyment backed North Okanagan with a stellar 44-save shutout performance.

Vernon’s Mat Lambert was in on each of the goals, assisting the first two before adding an insurance marker, his 12th, with 28 seconds left in regulation.

Logan Geefs, with his second snipe in as many games, and fifth of the season, jumpstarted the 11-11-0-1 Knights’ offence during a first-period powerplay, assisted by Anthony Ruggiero.

After a scoreless second frame, Brett Hawrys (5th goal), from Dennon Leibel, gave the hosts a two-goal cushion.

North Okanagan begins a four-game road schedule starting Wednesday in Sicamous. The Coyotes slipped to 13-12.
