North Okanagan Knights storm past Princeton Posse in third

North Okanagan Knights upend the host Princeton Posse 5-3 in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League play Tuesday night.

The North Okanagan Knights fired three unanswered goals in the third period to upend the host Princeton Posse 5-3 in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League play Tuesday night.

The Knights (20-20-0-1), who host the Okanagan Division-leading Kelowna Chiefs (26-12-0-3) tonight (7:30) at Nor-Val Sports Centre, have won four of their last five tilts. North Okanagan visits Princeton again Saturday.

Collecting a goal and assist each for North Okanagan against Princeton (13-23-0-4) were d-man Ryley Booth (2nd goal), Vernon Midget Tier 1 call-up Jeff Bochon, captain TJ Christensen (7th) and Logan Geefs (6th).

Blake Culbert (8th) pocketed the winner on a powerplay with 6:48 remaining in regulation.

The Posse outshot the Knights 19-10 in the first period, taking a 1-0 lead to the break on Andrew Stack’s 10th of the season. Destin Robinson (4th) put the hosts up by two with a shorthanded marker 4:33 into period two.

Bochon, with his first-ever KIJHL goal, and Geefs, scoring in the final minute, had it even after 40 minutes. Eric Schmidt (15th) completed Princeton’s attack early in the final frame.

Zach Dyment recorded 28 saves for his 14th win, while Spencer Huff had 33 stops for the Posse.
