North Okanagan Knights tie Creston Valley

North Okanagan Knights draw Creston Valley Thunder Cats 4-4 in KIJHL play Friday night at Johnny Bucyk Arena.

Mitch Profeit recorded 46 saves to help the North Okanagan Knights preserve a 4-4 draw with the host Creston Valley Thunder Cats Friday night at Johnny Bucyk Arena.

It was the first of a three-game Kootenay International Junior Hockey League road swing for the Knights, who built up a 4-1 lead midway through the second period.

North Okanagan (2-8-1-2), recording its first point in nearly a month, spread out the scoring, with singles coming from Dallas Keller (2nd goal), Tyler Mork (1st, powerplay), Logan Geefs (5th) and captain Dryden Profeit (1st).

Responding for Creston Valley (5-5-1-2) were Tyler Fyfe (3rd), Carson Cartwright (6th) and Lien Miller-Jeannotte, with his fourth and fifth.

Mitchell Martell made 25 saves for the Thunder Cats, who outshot North Okanagan 15-3 in the third period, and 11-6 in overtime.

The last-place Knights wrap up their  Kootenay swing this afternoon against the Kimberley Dynamiters (9-3-0-1). They battled the Fernie Ghostriders Saturday night.

Jim Armstrong’s crew hosts the Princeton Posse (8-4-1-2) Wednesday, 7 p.m., at Nor-Val Sports Centre.
