Oceanside Bantam Flyers put up a lot of runs at Springwood Park

Baseball action shows local squad can connect with the sweet spot

Oceanside’s Bantam Flyers battled their Alberni Valley opponents to a free-swinging split up at Springwood Park on Saturday that saw 42 runs driven in during the double header.

The Flyers won the opening game 12-11 off a passed ball with time winding down, and turned in another good effort in a 12-7 game-two loss.

Shane Craven, Devin Svensen, Austin Hykaway, Marcus Schan and Jack Mardis continue to lead the Flyers’ offence. Grant Wheaton and Darian Budd both made their pitching debut’s for the Flyers in game two.

The Flyers are playing .500 ball and sitting middle of the pack.

Their playoffs start Saturday, June 23 in Port Alberni.

The Flyers are back home at Springwood Park against Oceanside #1 on Saturday for a double header with games at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
