Soccer in Oceanside “is alive and growing stronger.”
According to Warren Cudney, Oceanside Youth Soccer Society (OYSS) “is pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with Mid Isle and Gabriola Youth Soccer clubs for the upcoming 2013-2014 House League soccer campaigns for players ages U10-U18. Pony soccer for players aged U6 to U9 will continue to grow as well.
“Following many months of planning in response to changes taking place in youth soccer in the Upper Island (UISA), OYSS, along with our new partners, have developed a way-forward that includes in-league house level play with teams from all three clubs, along with rotating monthly jamborees (mini tournaments) that will invite clubs from the upper and lower Island including Port Alberni and Comox,” explained Cudney, who sits on the society’s board of directors, adding that with a focus on player development and love of the game, and with registration prices that remain unchanged for the third straight year, the new format includes a very popular and successful player development program in addition to team practices, league games and tournament play.
“The addition of our new partners will give Oceanside players a chance to experience the fun with youth from across the Upper Island,” said Cudney, adding that “at OYSS we are committed to providing a well rounded, enjoyable, and challenging program for all youth in the community.”
