Scoring 14 goals in three games wasn’t enough for the North Delta Devils.
The Pacific Junior Hockey League team conceded 23 goals in a trio of contests last weekend, losing all three in regulation time to drop deeper into the basement of the Tom Shaw Conference.
The Devils fell 6-4 to the North Vancouver Wolf Pack Wednesday night in the Sungod Arena, were outscored 10-7 by the Ridge Meadows Flames Friday night in Maple Ridge, then dropped a 7-3 decision to the Port Moody Panthers Saturday in North Delta.
Now at 5-15-1 (won-lost-tied), the Devils are 10 points behind the fourth-place Grandview Steelers in the Tom Shaw Conference.
The Wolf Pack scored three powerplay goals in their win Wednesday, breaking a 1-1 tie early in the second period and never surrendering the lead the rest of the way. They were up 6-2 early in the third period before Joshua Smith of the Devils found the net twice.
Jackson Surbey and Thomas Cecchi also scored for North Delta, with Nicholas Holowko earning a pair of assists.
Two nights later in Maple Ridge, North Delta held a 30-26 shots on goal advantage and erased deficits of 3-0 and 6-4 to pull even with the Flames early in the second period and again after 40 minutes.
But three goals by the Flames in the first eight minutes of the third frame decided the contest.
Smith had another two goals for North Delta, and added one assist. Surbey also scored twice and had one helper. Mitchell Biermann with two goals and Colin Catchpole with one completed the scoring, with Levi De Waal collecting three assists.
Saturday back at the Sungod Arena, the Devils fell behind 2-0 after just six minutes of play and trailed 2-1 and 5-2 at the period breaks.
Surbey, Biermann and Joshua Trisevic were the goal scorers for North Delta.
The Devils are on the road tonight (Thursday) against the Mission City Outlaws, then host Grandview Saturday at 7:15 p.m. in the Sungod Arena.
