Alexandra Chutskoff will be joining Finlandia University next fall.
The Okanagan Hockey Academy graduate suited up for the midget female program’s inaugural season in 2010-11.
The 18-year-old forward from Abbotsford has worked hard on both her academics and athletics, leaving a positive impression on OHA coaches Rebecca Russell and Gina Kingsbury.
“Myself and Gina are very proud of Alex and the improvements she has made both on and off the ice this season,” said Russell. “We are excited for the opportunity she has in front of her next season and the hard work she has put into being a great student athlete has paid off. We have no doubt she will continue to strive in the coming years.”
Located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Finlandia University is part of the NCAA Division III and also part of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) for women’s hockey.
“I’m excited to have Alex join our program,” said Finlandia University women’s team coach Heather Reinke. “Her work ethic and character on and off the ice are going to be a great addition to our team. I look forward to developing her hockey skills and give her the tools to be successful off the ice as well. “
The OHA also announced that Zoe Battie, Chantayne Wilchewski, Daniella Calogheros and Alexa Ranahan have been invited to the under-18 provincial camp for Team BC. The camp took place in Salmon Arm from May 19 to 23 featuring the top 53 female players in the province. From that group, 23 spots will be filled to make up Team BC summer camp roster.
