Mitchell Moroz had the only shootout goal as the Edmonton Oil Kings clipped the Kelowna Rockets 3-2 Friday night before 5,100 WHL fans at Prospera Place.
Cole Benson and Brett Pollock scored in regulation for Edmonton, while Myles Bell and Carter Rigby supplied Kelowna goals.
Vernon’s Curtis Lazar and the Eastern Conference leading Oil Kings improved to 39-13-0-1. The Western frontrunning Rockets dipped to 43-7-0-4.
Bell, Damon Severson and Marek Tvrdon of Kelowna, and Henrik Samuelsson and Reid Petryk of Edmonton all missed in the shootout.
Both teams recorded 28 shots.
