Okanagan gymnasts grab hardware in Saskatoon

OGC contingent competes at Western Canadian championships

Three athletes and three coaches represented the Okanagan Gymnastics Centre last weekend at the Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships in Saskatoon.

OGC’s Jase Goerzen, Lucas Fabian and Jenna Mick were members of Team B.C. at the competition, while Norihiko Horie was the Level 4 Team B.C. coach, Jesse Jakins was the women’s team manager and Heather Ivanitz was Team B.C. judge.

Jase Goerzen competed in the Men’s Level 4 category where he also helped his team to a gold-medal finish. Goerzen finished third all around after Day 1 of competition and qualified to three event finals.

During Day 2 of competition, Goerzen finished with a silver medal on the floor exercise and rings and also earned a bronze medal on parallel bars.

Jenna Mick competed in the Women’s Level 5 Novice (12-13 year old) category in her first Western Championships helping Team BC to win the gold medal.  Mick also qualified to two event finals, the balance beam and floor exercise.

Lucas Fabian competed in the Elite 4 category and earned a silver medal finish with the Team B.C. Elite 4 team.
