Okanagan Rockets force third and deciding game in BCMML final

Kelowna-based major midget club wins 4-3 in triple overtime to stave off elimination and force third game

The Okanagan Rockets defeated the Vancouver NW Giants on Saturday night in a thrilling triple overtime epic that forced a third and deciding game in the BC Major Midget League championship series.

Liam Finley tipped in a Gen Bryshun shot to end proceedings early in the third overtime period. Bryshun found a lose puck near the blue line, walked in and wristed a shot toward the net.

The Rockets had forced overtime when Josh Blanchard scored with Okanagan goalie Brenden Mills on the bench for the extra attacker.

Mills was excellent in net, facing 43 shots through the first two overtime periods and making several stops before the winning goal. Branden Wagner and Justin Marreck had the other Rockets goals.

Vancouver opened the series with a 3-1 win on Friday.

The games are taking place at the Burnaby Winter Club and game three is set for Sunday morning at 9:30.
