OKM Huskies win Knox tourney

Okanagan Mission Grade 9 girls defeat George Elliot in final of basketball tourney

The OKM Grade 9 girls basketball team opened 2015 on the right foot, winning the Dr. Knox Classic tournament.

On Saturday, the Huskies defeated George Elliot 44-29 in the championship game. Jenna Robinson paced the Huskies with 15, while Malley Richardson had seven and Sarah Howald, six.

Emma Parmar and Courtney Morris had five points each.

OKM opened the tourney with a hard-fought 45-43 win over the KCS Knights.

Robinson had 13 points, Howald 10, while Morris and Reanne Mitchell had seven each.

In the semifinals, the Huskies defeated KLO 50-37, the only team to beat OKM this season. Robinson held the hot hand with 21 points, while Mitchell added six,

The Grade 9 Huskies, 11-3 on the season following the tournament win, will be at the Vernon Secondary Panther Pit Stop tournament this weekend.
