The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s soccer squad remained unstoppable last weekend, recording their sixth and seventh wins in a row at Abbotsford secondary.
The Cascades beat the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack 1-0 Friday. The Cascades opened the scoring nine minutes into the game when Monika Levarsky took a neat pass from Sunayna Samra and put a low shot past the TRU keeper.
The following day, the Cascades extended their winning streak with a dominant display against the University of British Columbia-Okanagan Heat. The Cascades beat the Heat 3-0, thanks to three goals in 10 minutes just after halftime.

The Cascades men’s soccer team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Saturday with a 1-0 defeat to the UBCO Heat.
UBCO striker Enzo Paal got the game’s only goal just six minutes into play. It held up as the winner after UFV’s Colton O’Neill missed a penalty in the 72nd minute that would have tied the game.
The two teams now sit with identical 4-4 records, and are tied for third place in Canada West’s Pacific Division.
A day earlier, the Cascades rode three set-pieces to a 3-0 victory over the still-winless WolfPack. Both men’s and women’s teams return to the pitch Oct. 10 at UBC.
