Vernon product Harlan Orr scored the winner as the visiting Salmon Arm SilverBacks upset the West Kelowna Warriors 4-2 in B.C. Hockey League play Friday night at Royal LePage Place.
After David Pope opened the scoring for the Warriors, the SilverBacks got three straight replies from Brayden Sherbinin, Sean Flanagan and Orr. Brandon Mistal added an empty-netter.
The Warriors outshot Salmon Arm 36-17 with Colin Dzijacky earning the win. The SilverBacks are two points back of the Vernon Vipers in the Interior Division.
The Trail Smoke Eaters overcame a 3-0 deficit to claim a 5-4 win over the visiting Chilliwack Chiefs, moving two points ahead of Vernon.
Josh Hansen had two of the first three Chiefs goals but Jake Lucchini answered late in the opening period. Still down a goal heading into the third, the Smokies got goals from Luke Sandler and Garrett McMullen to complete the comeback.
A see-saw affair in Merritt wound up in a 3-2 win for the Surrey Eagles.
Michael Stenerson opened the scoring for Surrey but Vernon’s Dylan Chanter tied it in the first. Drew Best put the Eagles ahead with the only goal of the second, and after Derek Huisman had tied it in the third, Nicholas Pierog scored the winner.
A three-goal first period propelled the Langley Rivermen to a 5-1 win over the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings. Derek Sutliffe’s shorthanded marker proved to be the winner.
In KIJHL action, the Summerland Steam shut down the North Okanagan Knights 4-0 at Nor-Val Sports Centre. The Steam outshot the Knights 30-22 with Brett Huber in goal.
