Little Tex Outlaws used goals by Lyndsay Lee and Monica Neilson to upend first-place TED United 2-1 in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Competitive Division play Tuesday night in Salmon Arm.
In a tightly contested game, the Tex crew got great defensive efforts from Jordan Mercer, Stacey Cover and Kate Welch to limit United’s scoring chances. Giniel Ferrier was outstanding in net, making many great saves to keep 7-3-1 Outlaws in the game.
Lee buried a penalty after she was taken down in the 18, and Neilson took a nice through ball from Elaina Huisken.
Lee and Lori Phillips were strong in the middle, creating many scoring opportunities. TED fell to 7-2-2.
In the other Competitive Tuesday-nighter, Dr. Lee Dental/Checkers welcomed back Kim Teichman and Madison Kaneda from injuries, and proceeded to roll the AF Blazers 8-0 on Marshall #2.
A pair of goals from Andi King, followed by a single from Kirsten Dodds on a great individual run made it 3-0 at the half.
Stephanie Wilson, also on a solo effort, made it 4-0 early in the second half, while King completed the hat trick on an assist by Becky Dodds, as the floss crew improved to 7-3. Blazers are 1-6-3.
King, with husband Jarrett watching one of his rare games, set up Kirsten Dodds for another strike. Becky Dodds from Alanna Rehman, and Rehman from Becky Dodds completed the onslaught.
Lisa Arrotta earned the shutout.
In Masters Division action Tuesday night, Okanagan Impact earned a 2-1 comeback win, handing first-place Setter’s Pub their first loss of the season on Marshall #3.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Impact (8-3-2) came alive in the second half with goals from Heather Findlay and Minda Chittenden on a penalty shot.
Impact are riding an eight-game undefeated streak, with a single tie in that span. The pub crew is 9-1-3.
Vernon Square Liquor Store North Okanagan United opened with a Carla Gibson penalty shot strike and never looked back in a 4-0 rout of Shuswap Kaos on Marshall #1.
Lena Dean, scoring once on a breakaway and again with traffic in front of the net, made it 3-0.
Gibson and Cheryl Roddis worked a corner kick set piece, with Gibson taking a back pass and sending a Bend it Like Beckham blast to the far upper corner to complete the scoring.
Dar Wiese earned the shutout as NOU improved to 5-7-1. Kaos are 1-9-2.
Roddis earned Game MVP for her constant sprints up and down the field, and for setting up numerous attacks at the net.
Vernon Chick Kickers took rookie Season Sistas to school in a 9-0 shellacking Tuesday at Marshall Field #5.
The Chicks, now 10-2-1, were led by the strong defensive line of Nadine Krywonos, Marilynn Vanderdeen, Wendy Martens, Wendy Magnus and Bridget Grant.
Tania Sladen and Kelly Challen led the assault with two goals each, as the Chicks have been playing superb soccer lately with lots of team energy.
The Sistas 1-10-1, generated a few good chances, but their only offence came in the form of an own-goal by Sherry Wiebe. Keeper Nicole Langner didn’t have a chance.
Newcomers Michelle Niles and Juanita Garner played with heart.
