KSS return to No. 1 in B.C. high school boys volleyball with convincing win in Kamloops

After one short week out of the No. 1 slot, the Kelowna Owls are back on top of the rankings in B.C. AAA high school boys volleyball.

The Owls took care of business last weekend at the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack senior boys tournament in Kamloops.

Top-ranked KSS twice defeated Earl Marriot Secondary by 2-0 scores, once in pool play and again in the playoffs. Earl Marriot was ranked No. 1 last week.

In the championship final on Saturday, the Owls were in control throughout the match, closing out Fraser Heights 2-0 in one of their best performances of the season.

“It was pretty satisfying, a great weekend of volleyball for the guys,” said KSS coach Mike Sodaro. “The boys really stepped up on Saturday and played well.”

KSS, which lost just one game all weekend, also defeated rival Mt. Boucherie en route to the title. The Bears reached the bronze medal game before setting for fourth place.

This weekend, the Owls and Bears are competing at the George Elliot senior boys tournament in Lake Country. The draw also features the top AA team in the province, the MEI Eagles from Abbotsford.
