A pair of Mission minor lacrosse players are heading to the National Box Lacrosse Championships.
Mission Sasquatch Bantam A players Teagen Dunnett and Trase Recsky made the Team BC female and male teams respectively.
The female nationals, which Dunnett will compete in, occur in Calgary from July 18 to 23, while Recsky hits the floor at the male nationals in Saskatoon from Aug. 2 to 6.
Both players will be representing the province against some of the best young lacrosse players in the country.
The duo played together on the Mission Bantam A team earlier this year.
Dunnett, 12, was one of 20 females out of 66 to make the team after a strong showing at tryouts in Langley in June. She started playing lacrosse four years ago, and competed against boys during her Bantam year this past season.
Recksy, 13, has been involved in the sport since the tender age of three, and has played goalie in the sport for 10 years.
Mission Minor Lacrosse is holding a bottle drive fundraiser to help fund both trips. The fundraiser occurs on July 9 at Centennial Park at the Grand Street entrance. More information on future fundraisers for the players will be shared on site at the event on July 9.
