Palahniuk third in B.C. Super Seniors

Last year's seniors champ, Kelowna's Lynda Palahniuk places fifth overall and third in super senior category

Defending champion Lynda Palahniuk settled for a tie for fifth at the 2014 edition of the B.C. Senior Women’s Golf Championship.

The Kelowna golfer was in contention through two days at the Vernon Golf and Country Cub, firing rounds of 76 and 79, but slipped out of the running with a final round of 10-over par 84.

Palahniuk, from the Kelowna Golf and Country Club, finished at 239, 10 strokes back of Jackie Little of Port Alberni who won her fourth B.C. title.

In the Super Senior category (age 60 and older) Palahniuk ended up in third place with her 239 score, four strokes back of Vancouver’s Holly Horwood.

Kelowna Golf and Country Club’s Melanie Grant finished tied for 13th in the senior championship at 247 (86-86-75).

Debbie Cross of Michaelbrook was 21st, while Okanagan Club’s Rhonda Poullos tied for 23rd and Linda Aikens was 29th.

The B.C. Junior Women’s Championship is set for July 1 to 4 at the Dunes in Kamloops, while  the B.C. Women’s Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships are set for July 8 to 11 at the Kamloops Golf and Country Club.

The provincial junior boys championship is set for July 8 to 11 in PItt Meadows.
