Panthers douse Sparks

Brody Watts canned 17 points as the VSS Panthers stopped the Similkameen Sparks of Keremeos 77-63 Friday at Fulton Secondary.

Brody Watts canned 17 points as the VSS Panthers stopped the Similkameen Sparks of Keremeos 77-63 Friday afternoon in the 17th annual senior boys basketball Corporate Classic at Fulton.

Charis Ondrik pocketed 14 points, while Bradley Hladik and Leon Schenker each added 13 for the Panthers. Sasha Zebroff dialed long distance five times and finished with 22 points for the Sparks. VSS led 45-26 before going to their bench.

VSS (2-0) tangles with the South Okanagan Hornets of Oliver today at 3 p.m. The Fulton Maroons go up against the George Elliot Coyotes of Lake Country at 7:30 p.m.

In other Friday play, Fynn McCarthy flushed 35 points as the  Coyotes  outlasted the Sa-Hali Sabres of Kamloops 107-95.

Nic Lafontaine collected 17 points for the Coyotes, while Jacob Branch bagged 24 points for the Sabres. Jarrett Larsen nailed five treys and ended up with 21 points, while Chris Buchanan produced 16.

Nathan Banga drained 18 points as the Maroons upended Sa-Hali 85-41 Thursday afternoon.

Ike Olson canned 15 points and Caden Doyle sank 14 for the Maroons, who take on the Duchess Park Condors of Prince George today at 1:30 p.m. Jarrett Larsen flushed 15 points for Sa-Hali.

In other Thursday games, Duchess Park got 25 points from Colburn Pearce as they grounded the Coyotes 99-74. Soren Erricson rang up 22 points for the Condors, while Fynn McCarthy nailed 26 and Cody Hackl 21 for the Coyotes.

The Panthers toppled the Westsyde Whundas of Kamloops 68-59 (no pointgetters supplied), while South Okanagan buzzed Similkameen 105-58.

Majot Dhaliwal provided 24 points for the Hornets, while Dilshan Gill added 21. River Eaglespeaker netted 14 points for the Sparks.

The championship final is schedule for Saturday at 2:15 p.m with the consolation final set for 12:30 p.m.
