Peters Tirecraft were getting tired of all those tight, one-goal losses in the North Okanagan Soccer League.
Tirecraft finally had room to breathe as they shut down the the host Salmon Arm Outlaws 3-0 Wednesday night at Blackburn Park.
Martin Paris scored a deuce and Harminder Sandhu had a single as Tirecraft stopped their losing streak at five games. The Outlaws dipped to 1-4.
Paris, a newbie, has been Tirecraft’s go-to-guy up front, and he opened the offence midway through the first half,
Sandhu made it 2-0 early in the second half on a sweet strike from 18 yards.
Paris nailed the goal of the night in the 60th minute when he one-timed a volley at the top of the 18 after ageless midfielder Brad Conlin streaked down the right flank, took the ball to the end line and crossed it to Paris. Bryan Lambert posted the shutout.
“Our back line of Torin Hampton, Kyle Richardson and Justin Richardson really stepped up their game,” said Conlin, who gave Hampton the Longhorn Man of the Match honours.
Nation of Domination Eagle Homes grounded Monashee Surveying FC 5-1.
“We found out very quickly that NOD was not the same team as last year,” said Monashee veteran Tyler Johnson. “They are full of kids ready to run and have great technique.”
NOD opened the scoring, then quickly doubled it with a great strike from the top of the box. Goal machine Nathan Whitling got one back for Monashee, smashing it short side, top corner.
NOD recorded three goals in the second half and Monashee kept pushing and created scoring opportunities but couldn’t take advantage of the tired 12-man Salmon Arm squad. at Marshall Field #2.
The shortstaffed North Enderby Timber fell 2-0 to league leading Salmon Arm Courvas at Marshall Field #5.
The Timber (3-3), playing with injuries and no subs, battled hard.
“Chances were few and far between for both teams who battled the worst fields in the Okanagan more than they battled each other,” said NET striker Brent Poulsen.
The On The Roxx Man of the Match for NET went to Greg Poggemoeller.
