The road has not been kind to the Parksville Royals.
They’ve endured back-to-back losses to the North Delta Blue Jays 10-9 and 7-2 over the weekend.
The Royals have now suffered four losses in row leaving them with six wins and six losses in the British Columbia Premier Baseball League standings.
In the first game, the Royals rallied from a 9-4 deficit to tie it up in the 7th inning. Unfortunately, they blew their chances when they gave up a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Brayden Baker started for the Royals. He put in three strong innings that saw him give up two runs and strike out seven. Josh Laukkanen was tagged with the loss after giving up three hits that resulted in the winning run for the Blue Jays (5-7). Thomas Leaf went 3-for-4 at bat for the Royals and had two RBIs and one run.
In the second game, the Royals were doomed by a slow start from which they were unable to recover despite outhitting the hosts, 8-5.
Finn Martin started for the Royals and allowed five runs. Martin gave up just three hits, but was hurt by walks and errors as the Blue Jays had two unearned runs.
Parksville got single runs in the third and fifth innings from Robbie Dhut and Ben Swing, but North Delta closed out the scoring with two runs in the sixth.
The Royals are back home Saturday, May 13, when they will take on the White Rock Tritons in a doubleheader beginning at 12:15 p.m. at Springwood Park.
The last time both teams met, the Tritorns prevailed twice in Surrey.
