PBR Canada returns to the Abbotsford Centre on Saturday.

In just over one week’s time, the Abbotsford Centre will be invaded by the top bull riders in the country.

Professional Bull Riders Canada brings its Monster Energy Canada tour to Abbotsford on Saturday, Oct.1 as one of the tour’s seven stops.

PBR involves a rider getting on a bull and attempting to stay mounted while the animal attempts to buck off the rider. In the American tradition the rider must stay atop the bucking bull for eight full seconds to count as a qualified ride.

The event features a corral party to kick things off at 6 p.m., with the competition getting underway at 7:30 p.m.

The championship showdown features 25 riders, with the top ten advancing to the final round at the end of the night.

There will also be four calf riders and four junior steer riders competing for top times at the event,

While PBR has hosted events in Canada since 1996, the new tour marks the first unified competitive PBR series travelling across the country and televised throughout the season.

The series will award a total purse of $25,000 in prize money per event.

Points earned at all PBR Monster Energy Canada Tour events count toward qualifying for the prestigious PBR Built Ford Tough Series and PBR World Finals in Las Vegas.
