Beau Pearson of Vernon continued his winning ways with a gold medal at the B.C. Series Slopestyle Finals last weekend at Big White Ski Resort.

In a field of nearly 70 rising snowboarders, Pearson sat in first place after two qualifying rounds with an impressive 36.8 out of 40.

Adam Wissenz, who trains with Pearson on the B.C. Provincial Freestyle Team out of Whistler, was qualified second with a 34.

Pearson held off Wissenz again in the finals, laying down a solid run of 35.8 to capture gold, followed by Wissenz with a 33.9 and Dakota Martin of Kelowna (30.7) in third place.

Pearson, formerly a member of the Silver Star Freestyle Team and a graduate of the Vernon Secondary High Performance program, credits much of his success to provincial team. He now has his sights set on becoming a member of the national slopestyle team.

Pearson will try to defend his amateur title against many of the country’s top boarders at Silver Star’s Hoedown, Throwdown, Showdown, March 26 and 27.
