The Pee Wee A2 Burrards placed fourth recently at the provincial tournament.

The Ridge Meadows Burrards Pee Wee A2 team knocked off some of the season’s best teams to claim fourth in the Province Pee Wee Provincials in Richmond, B.C.

The Burrards began the weekend dropping a 9-4 decision to  the Penticton Heat, the eventual provincial champions.

Not to be deterred, the group of 11 and 12-year-olds from Maple Ridge bounced back in dramatic fashion, knocking off the regular season’s second place finishers, Coquitlam Adanancs, with a tight 7-6 victory.

The Burrards kept the upsets rolling with  7-6 victory over the North Delta Islanders, who finished first in the regular season. The two wins pushed the Burrards into the  medal round.

However, there would be no miracle on concrete as the pee wee squad lost 12-6 to eventual silver medalists, Lake Cowichan. In the bronze medal match, the Burrards dropped an exciting 3-2 match to the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

Cole Leon provided exceptional goaltending for the season and tournament.  Also on the roster were: Justin Cloete, Trevor Ebbutt, Tyler Shaw, Xavier St. Peter, Jack Williams, Jake Sheridan, Dylan Ford, Reece Hansford, Cody Zachow, Brodie Harty, Aidan Lyons, Jake Fuller, Braiden Hamilton, Brad Wilson, and Cam Gjaltema. The team was coached by Ron Williams, Rob Sheridan, Mike Leon, and James Ford. Hansford received the Warrior Fair Play Award, while Cloete was named first team all-star, and Williams received the fair play award for coaching.
