The Abbotsford peewee black Falcons saw their bid for a B.C. community football title fall just short, as they dropped a 28-12 decision to North Delta in the provincial final on Sunday at Langley’s McLeod Park.
“We came up against a quality opponent, and it just wasn’t our day,” Falcons team manager Paul Gervais said. “Most of our kids had pretty good games, but we just couldn’t stop them on a couple different drives. We made a few mistakes, and it cost us.
“But the kids battled right to the end.”
Samwell Uko had a big game for the Falcons, rushing for both of the team’s touchdowns and earning team MVP honours. Ezra Garcia-Landa won the most sportsmanlike player award.
The peewee black squad’s run to the B.C. final was the highlight of the local community football association’s 25th anniversary season.
