A Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association peewee girls team claimed a silver medal in Kelowna during the weekend at the Alley’s Tournament of Hearts.
The event was an all-female, multi-division tournament. Williams Lake shutout Cochrane, Alta., 6-0, to open the tournament before blanking Salmon Arm, 5-0.
Williams Lake continued its shutout streak in games three and four with a 1-0 win over Kelowna and a 2-0 victory against Fort Nelson. In the gold-medal game, Williams Lake — which was head coached by Randy Riplinger and assistant coached by Mark Chestnut and Grant Gustafson — was defeated 5-1 by Abbotsford.
