The 100 Mile Peewee Rep Milers have had a hard time rounding up teams to play for extra practice before they head to the provincials on March 19-23 in Fernie, B.C.

Luckily, Quesnel’s tier two team loves hockey as much as the Milers and came down on Saturday, March 4 to play the 100 Mile squad.

Game 1

In the first game, the Milers went scoreless in the first as they worked out their lines and got back into playing a competitive game while Quesnel scored three. Then captain Kyson Hopson scored one in the second to give his team a boost of confidence.

The quick, fast passing Quesnel team came back with two. Then in the third Hopson got two more to get a hat trick. Quesnel scored two more in the third as well. The Milers kept working hard shift after shift and putting pressure on the Quesnel goalie, then with three minutes left, winger Alex Kuyek scores with an assist from Hopson.

The game ended 7-4 for Quesnel.

Game 2

In the second game, the Milers were warmed up and ready to take on the quick Quesnel team.

In the first period, the visiting team got on the board first. Then Hopson got a breakaway and tied it up. Subsequently, Quesnel got two more before Hopson got one back with a sweet pass from Carson Huryn. A shift later Hopson shot one by the goalie with an awesome pass from assistant captain Jadyn Monical.

Hopson wasn’t done yet and with a sharp-angled shot from the goal line and a lucky bounce brought his team into the lead. Quesnel put the pressure on and came back with two quick goals to steal the lead.

Finally, with two minutes left, centre man Trey Pacheco scored and tied it up for the Milers with a pass from Hopson. Each team was putting the pressure on and in the end the game ended in a 5-5 tie.
