The Terrace Peewee reps are on their way home after two ties and one loss in provincials this week.

They iced a strong match in their last game against South Okanagan, tying 3-3, but couldn’t quite clinch the win.

“We came down here expecting a lot more, but things didn’t go our way,” said coach Mitch Shinde.

“The kids played hard. We tied two games and lost one, not quite good enough, but we were pushing hard right to the end.”

The team finished third in their pool and Shinde said they only narrowly missed their chance to advance.

“We almost got a goal late in the last game, and that would have gotten us into the semi final,” he said, but the team just couldn’t quite capitalize.

The Terrace boys had claimed a 2-0 lead earlier in the game, but South Okangan managed to tie it up and then notch one more to make it 2-3 early in the third period.

With two minutes left, Zach Gull took managed to snipe a snapshot into the net from the right wing, tying up the game 3-3.

Since the Terrace boys needed a win to advance to the semis, they pulled their goalie for the final few minutes and executed a lot of tight attacks.

“We had a couple of close chances, but we couldn’t capitalize,” said Shinde.

The tie was game three in provincials for the Terrace Peewees, who tied with Cranbrook 3-3 in their first game on Sunday, March 19, and lost 4-7 in what was a fairly evenly-fought match against Langley yesterday.

The boys took third in their pool, not quite enough to advance to the semi-finals.
