The Armstrong Co-Op #3 Legends brushed back Kelowna #2 Raiders 9-5 in Bantam lacrosse play Sunday at Civic Arena.
It was a good, fast-paced, clean game in both directions with Legends’ captain Steele Pelletier returning from an injury to register 3+1. His brother Jake Pelletier added 2+2, while Brady Marzocco also scored twice.
Conor Webb pocketed 1+3 and Jack Lambert also scored once for the Co-Op. Nicholas Mann chipping in with three assists and goaltender Brad (The Wall) Gorrigan registered two helpers.
Gorrigan came up huge with a stellar performance, especially in the early going, and the rest of the team fed off of his efforts and played one of their best games of the season.
The North Okanagan #1 Legends lost 11-8 and 12-8 to Kamloops teams in other Bantam play Saturday at Memorial Arena
Josh Bosher fired four goals as the physically bigger Kamloops #2 won the opener. Mykl Drabiuk and Stephane Richard each scored twice for the Legends, who got singles from Chase Wirth, Colton Greeno, Jordan Barr and Darien Ottesen.
In Game 2, Branden Nicholas counted five goals as Kamloops #1 stopped the Legends.
Barr and Drabiuk each pulled hat tricks for the 9-4-1 Legends, while Richard and Wirth supplied singles.
The Butcher Boys Pee Wee 1 Legends went 2-2 in the Kelowna tournament last weekend.
Butcher Boys bowed 13-2 to the eventual champions in their opener, getting goals from James Francis and game MVP Thomas Mackiewich.
North Okanagan then lost 7-5 to West Kootenay, getting offence from Tanner Franje-Gilbert, Lucas Halvorson, James Francis, Kayden Beauregard, and game MVP Reece Hawthorne.
In their third game, Butcher Boys overpowered Kelowna #3 12-5, with Seth Waterstreet leading the way with a hat trick.
Deuces came from Franje-Gilbert and Francis. Singles went to Hawthorne, Chase Larsen and Beauregard.
Game MVP honours went to Lucas Halvorson.
The final game saw North Okanagan rack up a 14-1 win over Kelowna #2 with Hawthorne scoring three times and MVP going to goalie Tyler Langtry. Halvorson, Josh Melbourne, Beauregard, Waterstreet and Franje-Gilbert each added two goals.
