Peninsula atom Wildcats football team lets off some steam during a great year.

Peninsula Wildcats roar into football finals

Pre-atom, atom, peewee teams will compete in finals at Bear Mountain Stadium this weekend

All three divisions of the Peninsula Wildcats won their semifinal games last weekend and will play in the finals at Bear Mountain Stadium.

The Wildcats’ pre-atom team (ages eight to 10) coached by Shaun Waters won 30-0 against the opposing Westshore Warriors. The atom team (ages 11 and 12) coached by Al Naylor battled from the beginning and managed a close win at 14-6 against the Gordon Head Raiders.

Finally, the peewee team (ages 13 and 14) coached by Lowell MacDonald managed an even closer win against the Sooke Seahawks 22-20.

For this weekend’s finals, the peewees play the Cowichan Bulldogs at 3 p.m. Saturday for the Silver Cup.

Both the pre-atoms and atoms play the Saanich Wolverines for the Gold Cup on Sunday. Pre-atoms kick off at 11 a.m. and atoms at 1 p.m.
