Late last week Penticton KidSport cashed in as Valley First Credit Union made its donation of $8,450 to support local amateur sports programs.

As part of its 65th anniversary celebrations, Valley First donated $65 to KidSport for every goal the Penticton Vees scored from Feb. 24 until the end of their championship run. With the Vees scoring 130 times en route to their recent RBC Cup win.

“What the Vees have achieved this season is simply amazing,” said Valley First president Paulette Rennie. “They have been a source of inspiration and pride for everyone not only in the South Okanagan but across Canada. The Vees are true champions and their on-ice accomplishments will benefit KidSport and help make participation in local sports programs more accessible.”

“The charitable donation to KidSport will help make participation more accessible for those who otherwise may not have had the financial means required to take part,” said Penticton KidSport’s Shauna Janzen. “It’s tremendous that with Valley First’s support and following the success of the Vees, we will be able to extend our reach of our program.”
