The Penticton Lawn Bowling Club welcomed more than 50 bowlers from Osoyoos to Kamloops to their open house July 23.

During the event, the club had competitions and handed out trophies to the winners.

Larry Bechard, Pat Howard and Victor Lipp won the mixed triples, while Patti Carlson and Bea Dunkley won the ladies pair. Winning the mens pairs were Bechard and Clem Beaulac, while Kevin Barry won mens singles. Barry teamed up with Bev Marling to win the Australian pairs.

Ladies singles and the novice singles will be completed in August.

On Sept. 17 to 18 the club will host its Bonney Cup Open with bowlers coming from all over.

Earlier in the season the club held open houses to the public to generate interest from potential new players. Newcomers went through different stages and after learning, they played mini games with the members.

The Penticton Lawnbowling Club season goes until the end of September and they have one large tournament on Sept. 23. Last year they had 25 teams and this year they hope to break 30. The club also holds smaller tournaments and have league play, as well as evening matches.
