Penticton downs Vernon 4-0 in men's 45-plus soccer in Summerland

Penticton must be realizing that Big O/ Turn-Key Ogopogo’s are for real this year. The score certainly did not dictate the play of the two teams battling for the win. Although Penticton got off to a early lead, the Ogogopog’s did not give up their hopes to take down the first place club, Penticton, which won 4-0. Opportunity after opportunity by Big O/Turn-Key was denied by Penticton’s courageous keeper charging toward the two high-goal scoring duo, Roland Riedstra and Mark Wasylyk, who missed many glorious breakaways, as well as Rueben Cerventez, John Garner, Henry Czerwonka, Gary Dill, and also a hard blast from midfielder Brad Conlin just above the crossbar. Both teams had their chances but the Penticton took advantage of their chances. The Penticton shutout was almost foiled on a last minute rush towards the net by Wasylyk, who wisely put a ball past the keeper to wide open Gary Dill, who blasted it just over the net. There were a few bumps and bruises from collisions and injuries in the hard battle in Summerland, but both teams shook hands in admiration of one another in a great game. Penticton Improves to 10-1 while the Ogopogos are 6-5.
