While action begin a day earlier, the Grand Forks International baseball tournament saw its opening ceremony take place on Aug. 30.
Canadian, 2012 Summer Olympic bronze medal winning swimmer Richard Weinberger (10K marathon swim) threw out the ceremonial opening pitch.
