Vancouver Giants fell 5-3 to the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday evening at the Langley Events Centre.
Matt Barberis, Marcus Kichton and James Malm scored for the Giants in the loss.
Edmonton Oilers prospect Ethan Bear opened the scoring for Seattle in the first period, beating Ryan Kubic on a slap shot from the high slot.
Elijah Brown extended the Seattle lead with his first of the year just over a minute into the second period, but Barberis responded quickly for the Giants when he stripped Mathew Barzal of the puck and scored an unassisted marker.
Scott Eansor and Nolan Volcan scored goals in the first half of the third period to put Seattle in front 4-1, but the G-Men staged a late push to pull to within one goal.
Kichton scored his first WHL goal on a shot from the point at 10:21, and Malm fired a wrister past Seattle goalie Rylan Toth with under two minutes remaining.
The G-Men pulled the goalie in the late stages of the game, but Donovan Neuls potted an empty net goal to spoil the Vancouver comeback.
The Giants out shot Seattle 29-22 but went 0-for-5 on the power play. Kubic stopped 17 shots.
Vancouver returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 16, when the Prince Albert Raiders make their lone visit of the season to the Langley Events Centre.
