A minor lacrosse association introduces a series of weekend fun days are designed to entice little boys and girls into the sport.

Lacrosse players don’t typically hit their teens and realize they’d like to venture into the box to play in this fast and competitive sport.

There’s usually more of a build up. And that’s why the Langley Minor Lacrosse Association are hosting a series of fun sessions this month open to young boys – and girls – between five and 10 years old.

Taking over the fieldhouse at the Langley Events Centre, the kids are being getting a chance to give Canada’s national sport a try – no experience required.

In fact, organizers say the FUN Lacrosse – as it is dubbed – is only open to new players. They can not have been registered in minor lacrosse before.

Sticks and balls are provided. The only equipment required is appropriate footwear and a helmet. Organizers suggest that could be a hockey, lacrosse, or bike helmet, for this purpose.

The sessions are being led by Langley Minor Lacrosse coaches and players, and are divided based on age groupings.

FUN Lacrosse is co-ed.

The sessions run for four week, with two sessions already complete, and two more to go (Jan. 22 and 29).

The cost is $20 and to register (assuming there’s still room) or to get more information, people can email FUNlaxlangley@gmail.com.
