Things have been on the upswing for the SOMBA Tigers AA bantam baseball team.

The Tigers play has turned around after winning three of five games in a Tsawwassen tournament over the Victoria Day weekend.

Last weekend the Tigers played West Kelowna on Friday, then Kelowna/Rutland on Sunday and West Kelowna again on Sunday. They won two of those matches, both against West Kelowna.

“We played really well,” said Tigers coach Aqil Samuel.

The Tigers coach said the offence and defence has been good as has the pitching.

On the mound, A.J. Reiter, Tate Larson, Cole Boscyluck and Seth Kennedy are the Tigers top pitchers.

“They give us a chance to win every game and that’s important,” said Samuel. “We’ve really jelled as a team.

“We’re really kind of taking the next step this year,” he continued.

Samuel said playing in the Tsawwassen tournament provided a good test for the team against Lower Mainland squads.

The Tigers bats have been hot, which he said always makes games  more fun.

Along with the hot bats have been other players stepping up and hitting consistently.
