There’s a lot for bike riders of all ages to be excited about as the Comox Valley Regional District’s (CVRD) Pinecrest Bike Skills Park in Black Creek officially opens Saturday, June 18.
Members of the public are invited to attend the official opening ceremony that starts at 10 a.m. and are welcome to try out the features of the park right after. There will also be draw prizes, courtesy of Mountain City Cycle, Trail Bicycles and Mudsharks Coffee, who will also provide refreshments.
“This newly revived bike skills park offers fun activity for all ages in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Macaulay Road area,” said CVRD chair Bruce Jolliffe. “It’s great to see revitalization of the structures of the park knowing that this is what (residents) throughout the Comox Valley, will enjoy for years to come.”
“Staff have worked hard with their public consultation actions by conducting a survey and hosting an open house to ensure the neighbours and user groups were given the opportunity to provide input into the features and design of the park,” said CVRD Area C director Edwin Grieve.
The park has a variety of natural features including a dirt jump track and two pump tracks, for both novice and advanced riders, as well as a forested technical trail consisting of berms, rollers and log features. A playground has also been installed for younger park users.
The park is situated off Macaulay Road on Pinecrest Road. It’s recommended to carpool to the event as parking will be limited. More information about the park and directions on how to get there can be found at www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/pinecrest
