A series of coaching courses are available free at the Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence in Saanich as part of the celebration of National Coaches Week in B.C., running until Sept. 27.
The courses are offered through ViaSport in partnership with PacificSport Vancouver Island at PISE, including National Coaching Certification Program and High Five coaching courses.
A total of 24 free coaching courses are offered throughout the Island this month to celebrate and recognize the dedication of coaches across B.C.
PISE will host such classes as planning a practice (Sept. 20), nutrition (Sept. 22) basic mental skills (Sept. 23), how to design a sport program (Sept. 24) and more.
“Whether you are a new, prospective, or experienced coach, we encourage everyone to take advantage of the learning opportunities in their community,” says Sheila Bouman, CEO of ViaSport.
It’s the first year for the National Coaches Week, a Canada-wide celebration of coaches from grassroots to professional levels.
